Help for social emotional learning: Fred Rogers
Fred Rogers is my hero. I recommend his resources all of the time. You may be like me and grew up on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood (the show ran from 1968 – 2001). If you are, high five.
If you don’t know who Fred Rogers is, I strongly encourage you to check out his teachings — especially on social emotional learning.
The animated series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood premiered on PBS KIDS in 2012. This program is a huge favorite in our house. It’s the same teachings, music and learning we grew up with a animated twist. Now, a new generation of youngsters and their parents get the chance to be “television neighbors” and learn more about the importance of social emotional learning.
Throughout the years, I’ve incorporated quotes and activities as part of our homeschool journey, sprinkling in episodes of Daniel Tiger and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. For the Daniel Tiger fans, there are many apps, activities and games to engage youngsters and bonus! an app for parents, too!
You can find Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood anywhere you can access PBS KIDS.
