Book Club Idea: Hidden Figures by Margo Shetterly

Here’s a fun idea that parents and kids can participate in together. Host a dual book club on “Hidden Figures” by Margot Shetterly. Did you know that there are junior adaptations of the novel? And a movie to watch when you’re finished with the books?

For the last few weeks, I’ve been reading “Hidden Figures” by Margot Shetterly with several other homeschool mamas.

We’re going to watch the movie adaptation also. I’ve enjoyed connecting with my friends virtually in our book club. We’re wrapping up the novel this week.

This time around, our kiddos are reading the picture book version and joining us for our final chat around the story.

Hidden Figures Craft

Last year, my kids read the book and did a fun craft (pictured). They decorated the outside of clear film canisters with construction paper and colorful washi tape.

We took the “rockets” outside, filled them with a little water and a piece of Alka-Seltzer, capped the canister and stood back to watch the “rockets” shoot up. It was fun! 🚀🚀
