Help for social emotional learning: Fred Rogers

One of the resources you’ll hear me recommending repeatedly as part of the homeschooling or parenting journey are teachings from Fred Rogers. I grew up on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood (the show ran from 1968 – 2001).

After the premiere of the animated series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on PBS KIDS in 2012 (a show cut from the same cloth and teachings of Fred Rogers) a new generation of youngsters and their parents got the chance to be neighbors and learn more about the importance of social emotional learning.

Throughout the years, I’ve incorporated quotes and activities as part of our homeschool journey, sprinkling in episodes of Daniel Tiger and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. For Daniel Tiger specifically, we’ve utilized many apps, activities and games to engage our youngsters with (including the app for parents).

You can find Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood anywhere you can access PBS KIDS.
